How to sort a small bathroom, zone by zone

Three decades of fitting bathrooms taught us where the storage problems hide. Here's how we'd tackle yours.

Clear the surfaces

Nothing makes a bathroom feel smaller than a cluttered basin. Start by getting daily items off flat surfaces and onto walls, trays and tiers.

Walls, the back of the door and the area above the toilet are the most under-used real estate in any bathroom. Go up, not out.

Group like with like — swabs in jars, spares in baskets, tools on hooks. When everything has a place, tidying takes seconds.
